It’s been a long time since I visited Easy Bay (a town in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia). When Danielle and Eddie invited me to shoot their engagement session there, I just couldn’t refuse. We met at a beautiful church property, so that Eddie could lead us to their grandparent’s cottage (which is completely mesmerizing). BUT we ended up finding a beautiful meadow near by, that we needed to take advantage of.
Standing in the meadow surrounded by yellow and lavender flowers felt like a dream…. Meadows are my weak spot. They were so comfortable with snuggling into each other’s arms, my heart just melted. They took advantage of every moment they had with each other… even though my camera was in their faces for 2 hour.
When we made it to their grandparents property, you could see how much this place meant to them. As always, I’m completely up for an adventure…. so we all hopped on see-dos and took a little drive to a nearby island. They both are so adventurous and I knew this engagement session would be no different.
Here is their engagement story from Danielle herself.
“We were on vacation in Mexico and although we have been together for years I honestly had no clue. I was completely blown away. Actually on the way to Mexico I told him that a co worker said “maybe I would get engaged in Mexico”. Eddie and I both laughed. He had the ring picked out months before and got it sent to his Mom in Yellowknife to bring to Mexico so I wouldn’t find it. I am the planner, I didn’t even think he knew what country we were going to, let alone that he had been planning the proposal in Mexico for months. I had been planning that I wanted to go to Xelha ecological park.
I thought was so beautiful. So when we got to Mexico, that was our TOP priority. He let me plan the day and when we got there he asked what I wanted to do first. Off we went down the lazy river into an open lake (Eddie holding onto the ring in his bath suit bottoms for dear life). We got to the end and in the middle of lake was this big rock and that’s what I kept seeing in pictures, so I asked his parents if they could swim over and get our picture on it. They agreed and I was wondering why Eddie wasn’t listening to me on how to pose for the picture (not realizing he was trying to get ring out of pocket). We got the picture I so badly wanted, then as I turned to get off there he was down on one knee on a rock, in middle of beautiful water.
When we got back to the resort he surprised me again with candle light private dinner on the beach and our whole room was decorated with roses and chocolates. To say the least it was perfect. I was completely shocked and blown away at how much effort he put into doing something so special”. – Danielle
Hearing their beautiful love story makes me so excited to continue our journey together in Mexico (where it all started) next year. Check back to see what other adventures we run into.

If there was ever an awkward moment, you would never know it with these two. They were just always laughing.
Seriously…. How cute are they??
Danielle was so worried she would fall.
They took me for a ride just before this. Such an awesome experience.
